Who I Am
I
am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master of Social
Work (MSW) degree from the University of Washington. I have also
been trained in using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
techniques (EMDR). I have worked in Mental Health since 1975, in
a variety of settings. I’ve remained in this field because
I find the work fascinating, and I continue to be inspired by the
strength and resilience many people show as they struggle with
and resolve difficult issues. I find my work exciting as it constantly
challenges me to learn more. Prior to starting my private practice,
I worked at Community Psychiatric Clinic, Harborview Medical Center,
and the University of Washington Medical Center as the Social Worker
in the Cancer Center there. I’ve also facilitated a number
of support groups for Divorce Lifeline, Cancer Lifeline, and Seattle
Lesbian Cancer Project (now Verbena). This rich experience has given
me the skills to successfully work with individuals and couples
on a wide range of issues.
I live in Seattle with my husband, a dog and 2 cats, and we have
3 of our 4 adult children and one grandchild in the area. I have
personal experience with step-parenting and blending families,
which I have found gratifying. I’m also an avid gardener,
as you may guess from the pictures on my web site.
