Office Policies, Fees and InsuranceI
hope this website can help you in your search for a therapist. It
provides answers to some questions you might have about psychotherapy
and gives you information about me and how I work.
I am a licensed clinical social worker (WA state license # LW00006006).
I place a high priority on continued professional education and
frequently attend professional talks and workshops, and receive
consultation to enhance my learning. I have completed training in
the use of EMDR techniques which can be especially useful in helping
clients with issues related to trauma.
I work primarily during normal business hours, but I am flexible
and often can make arrangements to see clients at times that are
convenient for them. I charge $100 for intake and $90 for a 50-minute
session with both individuals and couples, and pro-rate longer
sessions and phone calls of longer than 10 minutes. I prefer that
clients pay me each session, unless we make other arrangements.
I am a provider for the following insurances; Premera Blue Cross,
Uniform Medical Plan, Aetna, Magellan, Regence. I will bill insurances
for you if this is your preference.
If you are interested in scheduling an appointment with me,
please call my business line at (206) 323-2090 and leave your name
and number and a good time for me to reach you. I check my messages
frequently during normal business hours and will make every effort
to get back to you quickly. When we talk, I will ask you some basic
information about the concerns that have led you to seek therapy,
and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have, but I
will not ask you to give a lot of information over the phone. I
believe that it is easier to talk face to face.
After we schedule a time to meet, you can click on the New
Client Information Form (PDF file) that I’ve provided.
If you wish, print it out, complete it and bring it with you when
you come for our first meeting. This provides an easy way for you
to give me some of your basic information so we do not need to take
time to do this during our first appointment. Of course this is
completely optional.
If a client wishes to speak to me between appointments, I can be
reached by leaving a message on my business phone line at (206)
323-2090. I will check my voice mail at least twice a day during
normal business hours and will return calls as soon as I can. If
you are experiencing a clinical emergency, I encourage you to call
911 or the Crisis Clinic at (206) 461-3222. I do not check email
regularly so do not send me anything by email that is important
or for which you expect a reply. Due to the new HIPAA regulations
and concerns about electronic security, I am limiting my use of
emails with clients.
Both Washington state and the Federal Government through their Health
Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) require that
I make every effort to keep the information that you give me confidential,
and that is certainly my intention. My policies in this regard are
spelled out in detail in two documents: 1) my “Disclosure
Statement and Practice Policies” and 2) my “Notice
of Privacy Practices (NPP).” All my new patients are asked
to read and sign these before we start our work together. You may
click on these documents if you would like to read these policies
regarding confidentiality and my other operating policies.
I belong to the following professional organizations:
- National Association of Social Workers (NASW)
- Academy of Certified Social Workers (ACSW)
- Seattle Counselors Association (SCA)
