Marilyn Croser

Marilyn Croser is Executive Director of CORE, an NGO working to advance the protection of human rights and the environment with regard to the global operations of UK companies, by promoting a more effective regulatory framework, higher standards of conduct, compliance with the law, and improved access to remedy for those harmed by business activity. CORE’s campaign during the Labour government’s review of company law and the passage of the Companies Act led to the creation of the directors duty to have regard to other stakeholders’ interests in the course of promoting the company’s. More recently, CORE worked with organisations across Europe to ensure the EU Non-Financial Reporting directive would be an effective tool for improved corporate transparency. CORE worked with parliamentarians and responsible businesses to press for the inclusion of a requirement in the Modern Slavery Act for companies to report on what steps they are taking to address slavery and human trafficking in their supply chains.
